From the other post: How are the Wild on "D" maybe we can package Boyle and MDZ in a package including Konopka and Setoguchi? |

The Rangers always seem to make a splash and at least that adds a wrinkle of excitement to the FA period for your fan base......our GM is probably building model cars or making casseroles at this moment..... |

They could use a player on defense.... although MDZ > Setoguchi

Your GM just drafted 2 pilars (literally) for your defense. If only you guys can get out of that Leino contract.
Buffalo should really buy him out. |

It's predicated on Staal being ok, and if this Mclirath kid is ready. But, they gotta do something. |

Two other names to keep in mind are Boyd Gordon and Kyle Chipchura. Gordon is similar to Malhotra and Lapierre in that he begins a vast majority of his shifts in the defensive zone, is good on faceoffs and surprisingly finished with a 0.11 +/- per 60 at 5 on 5 play; meaning he was on the ice for slightly more goals for than against per 60 minutes of ice time. Considering he began better then 2/3 of his shifts in the defensive zone that's a solid number.
Comparatively, Hendricks began just less than half of his shifts in the offensive zone and the opposition score 0.76 more goals per 60 when he was on the ice than not.
Lapierre was a -0.81 in On Ice +/- per 60.
Chipchura has decent size and plays physically. Could be a good fit on the fourth line. |

It means they saved two million dollars in cap space; which means they might make a move on a right handed free agent defenseman.
Which, I have no problem with by any means. |

I think Gordon is a good face off guy too.

I know it seems likely we're rolling with the same team, but I just want to know if our guys can score some Power play goals, can that be the difference in goals that we're missing the past few years? Time will tell!
Also have to hope some of the guys grow, and chip in a bit more. I know every year on paper we say, this guy'll score at least 20, this guy 15, but it's been a lot less than that. Hopefully this is the year that changes! |

The Wild defense is not too bad although they did buyout Tom Gilbert. Brodin and Suter are anchors but I am not sure of what else they have in defensive personnel quality. |

How about Nystrom from Dallas? UFA and would fit in really well on the third line. |

They have Dumba in the system, dont know if hes ready yet. Stoner isnt horrible, but outside of that dont know what they have there. |

That's a good get, if they could fit him in at a reasonable price. He is only 30 years old and is a legitimate top four type defenseman. |

All I know is that tomorrow is going to get downright silly. Today's Seguin trade to Dallas has me pumped up for tomorrow.
Hearing a ton of rumors right now: Clowe to NJ is the latest one. |

Wouldn't mind that at all; he is not devoid of skill, is a really good skater and is a pretty tough customer. |

Yea, has a good overall game and won't come at too high a price. |

Addition of Gilbert and a LW via DZ trade isn't a bad idea. We keep saying wheeler for DZ. Nash goes to LW so wheeler can play RW
